Description

I hope you get the reference. I'm not that old. Please.

But really, I don't know much about Mega evolution, but I'm sure N would have a narrow minded perspective on it before much exposure. Plus the history of Mega evolution isnt very good, from what I know Mega Evolution is a result of AZ using a giant canon that sucked the life energy out of pokemon. I'm sure N would have something to say about that. Also, I'm pretty sure Mega Evolution doesnt require high friendship with your pokemon, just a mega stone. It's like a form of steroids.

But all that is moot because JBN takes place in the other timeline, either the war didnt happen or the canon never went off, mega evolution isnt a thing. It cant be, because Jet's aunt is my Pokemon Ruby character, not Omega Ruby. It wont really effect the story but in my own head canon that's just how it is.

Half true

Mega Evo requires some sort of "Mega Stone" and then some external trigger source to activate the Mega Stone. One ideally also wants a stabilizing factor, but Mega Evo can happen without that.

The most common external factor is a mega keystone (most commonly embedded into in a mega branded accessory or Z ring) witch transfers energy from it's welder to a mega stone via a metaphysical "bond" the key stone welder has with the mega stone welder. But keystones are FAR from the only possible external factor, just the most common and one of the safer ways to trigger a Mega Stone.

This "bond" is more often then not (stereotypicaly so) friendship witch can also act as a type of weak stabilizing factor, but it can be almost anything.

Mega Evo can happen without a stabilizing factor, but doing so can lead to nasty side effects like the mega evolving pokemon going besurck, or... well, read some of the Mega Pokemon form pokedex entry's from Gen 6. a stabilizing factor mitigates or prevents the side effects.
