Gotta Catch 'Em All Meme

I got attacked by this meme while browsing ’s gallery. It being Meme Madness Month in our guild, I decided to oblige, since I am in a pokemon mood. The original and rules can be found here: [link]


So the challenge is to draw you and your pokemon dream team, except it can only be comprised of the first 151 pokemon. Since I love my actual fire red team so much, I decided to draw them, as it’ll also give me an excuse to talk about them. : D

Trainer Risa
Risa is my character for Fire Red (or F.Red for short). She’s the little sister of my Ruby version’s character, Emma. Risa doesn’t have any great dreams about becoming pokemon champ like her sister, and truth be told I still haven’t beaten the elite four with this game even once (not for lack of trying). When Risa set out on her journey all she was looking for was an adventure.

Saber the Rattata
Before Risa was sent to live with her aunt up in Kanto, she stayed on a little farm with her grandparents in the Hoenn region. Because she had no playmates, her dad decided to get her a pet Rattata to keep her company, and the two have been inseparable ever since. Saber is fiercely loyal to her owner, and wont hesitate to fight anything that may harm her charge.

Red the Charazard (Starter)
Back when Giovanni was still experimenting with clone technology to recreate the pokemon mew, Red was created as one of their few successful clones. Apart from his light blue eyes and enhanced strength and stamina, he was no different from any other charmander. After he was shipped to the Viridian Gym, he escaped into the woods. There he met Risa, who had just started on her pokemon journey. With nowhere else to go, and needing to hide from the Rockets hot on his tail, he decided to travel with the girl as her protector.
Red has a Docile nature. As a charmander he found wonder in everything, having been born and raised in a laboratory. Although not arrogant, he did feel a sense of distance between him and other pokemon, which often showed itself in a sarcastic snark that made it hard for him to get along with others. As he evolved, Red learned more about being a leader and what it means to be a pokemon.


Constance the Blastoise (Traded)
The undefeated champion of water games in Cerulean City, Constance was an aggressively competitive athlete who could never be good enough for herself, despite being the best. At first when she met Red she mocked him for his passive attitude, but later was impressed by his power and drive. She joined the team and the two formed a rivalry that later developed into a close friendship.
Constance has a Brave nature. As a squirtle she was very solitary and proud, often looking down on others with a judgmental eye. However, after traveling she eventually evolved into almost a motherly figure to the group, responsible and compassionate and acting as the voice of reason. Despite having matured, she still loves a good competition, but she’s learned to accept defeat when it comes and to be supportive of others.

Sarah the Nidoqueen
Trained in the way of the ninja, Sarah never really fit in with the rest of the pokemon in the Fuchsia city gym. It wasn’t that she was weak, in fact she was one of the most skilled, but she hated violence. She never saw the point of fighting. After traveling with Risa and her team, Sarah found there were some things worth fighting for.
Sarah has a Bashful nature. She’s opened up a lot since she joined the team as a nidorina, but still gets shy for pictures and such. <3

Sparkle the Raichu
When she was a pikachu, she and her brother were star performers at the pokemon fanclub. Sparkle loved the show business, but her brother was especially shy and only went along because they had to. After some freak accident that caused both of them to evolve, their appeal went down and they were no longer useful. Sparkle was put up as a prize for some event, and her brother Sparky was sent to Hoenn’s fanclub for the same. It was only by chance Risa was there on the right day and ended up the winner.
Sparkle has a Brave nature. She travels around with all her costumes and outfites in a large straw basket tied to her back, and always tries to get the others to dress up with her. She is forever cheery and full of energy, and is glad to have a trainer that appreciates her talents.

Sammy the Dewgon
Not much is known about Sammy, other than his name is Sammy and his previous owner’s name was Matt. Sammy has a quiet nature, scruffy hair and flame pattern tattoos on his fins and tail. Forever laid back, he simply floats through life in some sort of perpetual zen state of mind.

A few words about the picture. I decided to go with a group photo type picture. Sarah didn’t realize they were getting a picture taken, thus her shocked expression. The really large glove Risa has on is so she can touch Sarah without getting poisoned. Because of Sarah’s spines, Constance is the only one who can touch her with her bare hide without getting affected. Sparkle of course got dressed up for the occasion, but not the full get up, she didn’t want to over do it. Also, I did not color her cheeks wrong, that’s on purpose. Red’s wings gave me quite a lot of trouble; if I just drew them in they would have completely blocked Constance out.

And yes, apparently now that you’ve seen mine, you must now do one yourself. TEE HEE!
