Floraverse Species - Bonsai Unicorn by Zerochan923600 Floraverse Species - Bonsai Unicorn by Zerochan923600
:iconfloraverse:
Feel Free to Use this Species!
So :iconpurplekecleon: has started a new group that takes place in a world of hybrid creatures, most of which apparently have flowers on their heads though only one of the cannon species that have thus far been revealed actually have flowers on their head. I dont really feel like participating, but I've always been into creature creation, especially when given a set of perimeters to work within, so I made one just for fun. Not very original, I know, I was only messing around after all, but then I so liked the way the sketch turned out I thought I really ought to post them, but if I were to post them I might as well color them. And if I'm posting a colored version of them I might as well submit them to the group in case anyone else would like to use them.

Still working on the name. For now, I thought Bonsai worked well because of the miniature trees that grow on their heads, and because of their single horn/antler they are essentially unicorns (Bonsai can also refur to how small they are compared to actual horses, they are more like little deer or goats). The tree on their head can be any type, I would have drawn some more variety, but my wrist hurts too much. The trees may shed their leaves/flowers annually, but the trunks themselves are never shed, and if broken off could take years to grow back, if ever. In terms of color, most of these Unicorns sport plain coats in neutral colors (like the cream one up top), always with a red mask on their faces. Those of Spirit Affinity tend to become more vibrant in hue (like the two on the bottom).

Common Affinities are Earth and (less common) Spirit. The color of the strips and dots on their pattern often reflect their affinity.

I dont know enough of the Floraverse world to think of much of a history for these things, but for now I'll just say they live peacefully in the wild where there is clean water, usually in the forest or in a glen, and keep to their own kind. They dont seem to have their own language, but speak Plant and can communicate to each other in this way. Some are able to learn other languages, but generally arent very good at it, (kinda like the way Starfire from Teen Titans talks?). Their sentience is only about 40%, being a simple minded species, they can be hired as cheep labor. Despite being small, they can carry great loads when walking on all fours.

That's all I have. If you have suggestions or questions about this species, please let me know (like I said, I'm not even sure about the name). Also if you end up using this species to make a character, please link it below so I can check it out! I'm thinking this could be one of those species that happens in the background, like a servant in a rich creature's home, or the beast of burden for some traveling merchant. A donkey with a personality XD

Perhaps.

But I think it is an interesting tie all of them have no matter their affinity, and red is an awesome color.
