Description
[EDIT2]Looks like i ended up working on it again! Actually finished the boat and touched up some of the animals.[EDIT2]
[EDIT] I didn't paint the ice, water, or sky! [/EDIT]
I painted this for a video assignment. I'm not really looking for criticism or anything, since I don't plan to ever work on it any more. What I did was I painted each animal based on google images, and then referenced the cloths from the original, changing it here and there to match the animal's proportions. These are all animals that live in the continent of Asia, because my teacher likes conceptual pieces and thought I could use my Asian-American background, which is why I chose this painting. The flag was originally going to have yellow stars where the original painting had white ones, but then I didn't want it to be too politically in your face.
I don't care if the horizon isn't even. There were people in the back and I didn't want to paint all of them, so I just blotted them out. Also I didn't paint the water, ice, or sky; those are from the original painting.
I went to see the original at the Metropolitan Art Museum in New York City when I went up last Saturday. That thing is HUGE! I mean, I knew it would be big, but I had no idea it would be THAT big! It's like, 149 in × 255 in!!!
Washington Crossing the Delaware was painted by Emanuel Leutze. The gigantic painting can be found in the American wing of the Met.

The animals I can name are as follows:
Bengal tiger
Asian elephant
Asiatic black bear
Mugger crocodile
Indian rhino
Coremont
Red crowned crane
Raccoon dog
South China tiger
Sumatran rhino
Macaque
And a great grey owl
was I correct? Sorry if I offended you. Also do you have more American history paintings with like anthropomorphic animals; whether prehistoric or modern, taking the place of various historical figures? Like African and madagascan animals fighting in the civil war, European animals during the great depression, Old west south American or Canadian animals, 50s American and Mexican animals? Australian disco dancing wildlife, Etc. I can see Abraham Lincoln as a cassowary.
